When I lived with my parents while I used unemployed, I cooked a lot. While I take refuse from Irma, I’m doing some cooking. Making some eggplant parmesan. I think it was around this time last year I first made it for my parents, brings back some bad memories.

You’re safe, and you’re cooking Italian food. And you have a job now (?) ... and that cooktop looks good. I’m here, out of danger, and cooking Italian food meself, bolognese. It could be a lot worse ...

The name eggplant really annoys me. What does a long, purple, vegetable/fruit (depending on who you ask) have to do with eggs?
Aubergine makes more sense.

I believe it’s because some of the plants in the same family actually do look like eggs.

And right now my neighbors are sniffing the air and wondering who is making ... something. Guy down the hall does steak nearly every night, and it makes me crazy.

Ah apartment life.
All the apartments I’ve lived in have had doors that open up to the outside, so I don’t have to smell other people’s cooking, just my own.
